‘Birthday’ owl carved in Port Lambton

When Dave Labadie’s ash tree was taken over by the emerald ash borer, he decided to leave one of the stumps.

He said he saw a wood carving completed down the road, which inspired him to get one of his own.

He called up chainsaw artist Trevor Rudavsky, and last week the beautifully crafted owl was made.

“I’ve always loved owls,” Labadie said. “This is a birthday present just for me. Whenever I am on my patio, the owl is looking at me.”

While pointing towards the back drop of the field in his back yard, Labadie said he often will spot different wild life, including owls.

Labadie added he plans to stain the carving in the next week, to give it a finishing touch.

Anyone interested in getting a carving on their own, can call Rudavsky at 519-282-0507.
