Wallaceburg is getting some new sidewalks

Council rubber stamped a new sidewalk construction program last night, which means some new ones are coming to Wallaceburg.

“The existing priority matrix has been filtered to those sections that have no sidewalks as per the direction and motion passed by council,” said Nelson Cavacas, manager of infrastructure and development engineering, in a report.

Two projects in Tilbury and one in Wheatley has been listed ahead of the three Wallaceburg projects, but all six projects are scheduled to be completed this year.

The sidewalks in Wallaceburg, will be installed at the following locations:

– Francis Avenue, from Elgin Street to Bertha Street by St. Elizabeth Catholic School.

– John Avenue, from Elgin Street to Bertha Street by St. Elizabeth Catholic School.

– Thomas Avenue, from Dundas Street to Greenbriar Trail near Christ the King Catholic School.

Included on a list for potential construction in 2015 is a stretch on Park Street in Dresden, from Chandler Street to Fuller Street.

The total allotted budget this year is $300,000 to complete all six projects.
