Some overnight and weekend work could be taking place on Highway 40 between Wallaceburg and Chatham starting in August.

Chatham-Kent administration received a request from the Ministry of Transportation for a noise by-law
exemption, to allow Highway 40 rehabilitation from North limits of Chatham to the South limits of Wallaceburg.

Staff says the noise exemption is being requested from August 2014 to December 2014.

“By granting the applicant’s request for exemption between 11:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m., it will permit night-time and weekend construction, if necessary for excavators, milling and paving equipment,” said Paul Lacina, Chatham-Kent’s chief building official in a report. “The time frame will give the contractor flexibility to complete the process.”

The report states that a notice was published in The Chatham Voice for a week and no objections or concerns were received by administration.

Council is set to vote on this report at tonight’s (June 9) regular meeting.
