Whether it is single or family sized meal portions, Sue’s Kitchen in Wallaceburg has an array of options to best suit your needs.

Sue Misselbrook, owner of the business, has been working in the food industry her entire life.

“I’ve been in the restaurant business since I was 16 in Dresden,” she said. “After I started having my family I got out of it for a little bit, went to Park Street Place in Dresden… worked there as a cook. From there I went to Sydenham Residence here in Wallaceburg as a cook, and was there until 2008, for a total of 17 years. I ran the kitchen for the last three years there.”

Sue said then went to St. Clair College night school to complete her institutional food service worker certification.

“When I left the residence I was wondering what I was going to do for a while, and I thought maybe I would go back to school for something different,” she said. “But I thought about it, and I couldn’t figure out what else to do.”

Sue added: “I talked with family and friends and they said I should get back into what I was doing, so they convinced me to do some baked goods. So I started doing that as a trial run for about a year. Got a little more feedback, little more expansion and it really just kept growing from there. People decided they wanted me to cook for them as well as doing their baked goods.”

Sue said from there she ventured out and thought about whether to start an actual store front business or do a home-based business.

“We decided on the home-based business, did complete renovations of the basement in 2011 in the spring and the business officially started in June 2011,” she said. “It keeps expanding and growing.”

Sue said many of her customers are seniors that live alone, which is works out good for them.

“It’s home-cooked food, so they know that it is good, they don’t have to worry about all the chemical stuff that is in there,” she said.

Sue’s Kitchen has been open since June of 2011. They provide their customers with ready to heat and serve frozen meals and fresh baked goods in single or family sized portions. All menu items are prepared from scratch without the addition of salt or preservatives, making them a healthier choice than take out or fast food. With 30+ years experience in the food industry, Sue brings her love of good wholesome nutritious food into all the meals that she prepares.
