The Wolverines were in action at the London Badgers AAA Baseball Tournament this past weekend.
Game 1 saw the Chatham squad against WOBA Strom, Kyle Blunt and Drew Pepper combines for the win.
Game 2 Wolverines Vs Windsor Riverside 11-2 win for the Wolverines, Grant Spence and Evan Rogers combined for the win. Spence Marcus, Connor Goldsmith, Derrek Smith and Greg Hay with Multiple hits.
Game 3 Vs Hamilton Cardinals was an 11-3 win for the Wolverines. Derrek Smith and Greg Hay combined for the win to complete round robin play.
With the Wolverines going undefeated in round robin play they were seated first overall in the tournament.
Semi Finals Wolverines were back in play with the Hamilton Cardinals in a 9:00 am game, the Wolverines faced a determined Cardinals team but pulled out a 5-1 win with a complete game by Spencer Marcus.
The highlight of the game was a 3 run 330 foot Home Run by Greg Hay which put the Wolverines in the driver’s seat for the win.
Championship game Wolverines VS London Badgers. Both team went into the finals with 4-0 records. This would prove to be a knock down drag out fight for both teams. With both teams playing great defence the Wolverines proved to be stronger on the bats with a string of 5 hits coming in the 4th inning, Spencer Marcus Greg Hay, Connor Goldsmith, Jake Taylor and Drew Pepper all combined for the rally.
The Wolverines Completed the Tournament with a 5-0 record. This will help them as they will travel to The Mississauga North Tigers Tournament this upcoming Weekend to face the top teams in Ontario.
Their first game will see the Wolverines face the number 1 ranked team in Ontario in the Mississauga North Tigers Friday night at 8:30pm.
