From lasagna, to chili, to soup, to meatloaf, to fish and chips and homemade chicken nuggets, the list goes on and on at Sue’s Kitchen in Wallaceburg.
In fact, Sue Misselbrook, owner of the business said she recently revamped her menu.
“Once a year I go over everything to see what is selling, what is not selling,” she said. “It has been changed every year for the last three years, we always have the same bestsellers that are always going to be there: the stews, the pot pies, cabbage rolls, chicken broccoli casserole.”
Sue offers a full-range of items from single-serve to family-sized portions, and you can pick up a weeks worth of dinners from about $20 to $25.
Sue said she goes through a lot of her TV dinners.
“Roast beef is a big seller, it comes with mashed potatoes and gravy and glazed carrots,” she said.
The TV dinners range from meatloaf, to sweet and sour meat balls, breaded chicken, liver and onions, teriyaki chicken, fish and chips, maple glazed salmon and breaded haddock and homemade chicken nuggets.
“I use a whole chicken breast, cut it up into chunks,” she said. “It’s not the same as the processed stuff you buy from the store.”
Sue said everything she makes is all homemade.
“It’s all from scratch,” she said. “I don’t use any pre-packaged anything, as far as gravy mixes, it’s from the drippings of the roast beef that I cook. Even the pastry I do for the pot pies or any of the baked goods is all from scratch.”
Another one of her specialties is her different varieties of soup.
”My customers make an order, I make it, freeze it, and they pick it up on Fridays,” she said. “Delivery is available, and I do deliveries on Thursday afternoons, it’s $2.50 in town.”
Sue added: “I do have some things in stock… when you make a pot of soup if somebody orders three beef barley soups, I’m going to make a whole pot of soup. So I’m going to have some in the freezer. I might not always have everything on hand but there is stock available.”
Sue’s Kitchen has been open since June of 2011. They provide their customers with ready to heat and serve frozen meals and fresh baked goods in single or family sized portions.
