Fireworks fundraisers exploding across Wallaceburg

The fireworks committee is holding numerous fundraisers this month to help ensure Canada Day goes off with a bang in Wallaceburg.

The group already raised about $1,000 with a pizza promotion in front of the radio station, now the donations are being gathered thanks to a Shaun Suisham-inspired sandwich.

For the entire month of June Your Hometown Deli, located at 1542 Dufferin Avenue Unit #4 in Wallaceburg, is donating $2 from every “Kicker” sandwich sold to the fireworks committee.

$1 of that comes from Your Hometown Deli, and the other $1 comes from Wallaceburg native and Pittsburgh Steelers kicker Shaun Suisham.

The sandwich is made up of a panini bun, with an avocado spread, jalapeno turkey, Canadian bacon, green onions and Monterrey Pepper Jack cheese. The recipe was created by Suisham himself.

The fireworks committee will also be heading to the UAW Hall, located at 88 Elm St. Wallaceburg, on Friday night (June 13) for a trivia night fundraiser.

The event features 10 rounds of 10 questions for teams of six.

Cost is $20 per person.

Prizes will be up for grabs, a cash bar and entertainment will be available and food will be provided by The Black Goose.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with trivia starting at 7 p.m.
