Witnesses sought after Murray Street crash and punch

Police are seeking witnesses after an incident on Murray Street in Wallaceburg.

On Saturday, June 28, at approximately 11:37 am the Chatham Kent Police were called to attend a motor vehicle collision on Murray Street, Wallaceburg.

Through investigation it was learned that the victim; a 27 year old Chatham man, was travelling on Murray street when he slowed for a vehicle entering a private drive.

Police said when he did this the driver of the vehicle immediately behind him struck the rear of his vehicle and allegedly pressed the accelerator pushing the victim’s vehicle forward.

When the vehicles came to a stop the victim exited his vehicle and approached the other involved driver who allegedly punched the victim in the face.

As a result of the incident a 37 year old Wallaceburg man was charged with dangerous driving and assault.

He was released with a future court date.

The victim did not require any medical attention.
