Effective immediately, operators of tall marine vessels are advised that passage under the Prairie Siding bridge will not be available, as the bridge is unable to be raised due to a recent motor vehicle incident.

No safety issues have been identified at this time.

However, the Municipality of Chatham-Kent will be conducting a full inspection of the structure and mechanics to ensure continued safe operation.

Small marine vessels which can clear the fixed spans will not be affected.

Similarly, the bridge remains open as a viable crossing for vehicular traffic.

This closure will remain in effect until further notice.

The bridge deck had been stuck in open position due to vehicle colliding with the bridge structure while the bridge was being opened.
