Tents are being setup, fences are being installed and excitement is in the air for WAMBO 26.
Bill Wolsing, chair of the event, said preparations are going well and the weather forecast looks great.
“Opening ceremonies are at 5 p.m.,” Wolsing told us this morning. “We have a little prayer and I know that Chipper is looking down on us and making sure everything is OK. We’re going to make it happen. We’ve got great weather coming, which is a blessing because weather makes or breaks an event.”
Wolsing setup is going smoothly.
“Everything is going well,” he said. “It’s a fine tuned machine, everyone knows what they are doing and it’s just going perfect, you can’t ask for anything better. After 26 years, its the same thing, it’s all like Groundhog Day the next time around. Everybody knows what they’re doing.”
Wolsing said tons of helpers are out lending a hand to get ready for the event.
“Mostly volunteers from town,” he said. “We also have a couple of service clubs that are involved, but predominantly WAMBO has its own core of volunteers that are with us faithfully every year. They work very, very hard.
Wolsing added: “We have organizations like Maple City Citizens On Patrol. Those people are year free of charge and they guard the place for us at night, so we can all go to bed knowing that it is safe when we’re sleeping. I’m overwhelmed at the help that comes around. When you ask for help, it’s there.”
