911 ‘pocket dials’ becoming an issue

iPhone call 911 phone dial telephone

Chatham-Kent Police would like to remind citizens that 911 lines are to be used for emergencies involving public safety and crimes in progress.

The non-emergency line is 519-352-1234 for incidents that have already occurred (i.e. vehicles broken into overnight).

Since Monday there have been 47 911 ‘hang up’ investigations.

Some of the calls are accidental ‘pocket dials’ from 911 speed dial options on cell phones.

911 on speed dial is discouraged.

Please help keep the lines clear for emergency calls.
