The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man for the second time this week for drug possession.

On August 19, officers executed a drug warrant at a residence in Wallaceburg. The man was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine. On August 20, he was released from custody with conditions pending a future court date. One of those conditions stated that he was to reside at an address on Reaume Avenue.

Last night, an officer conducted a residency check on the man and learned that he was not living at that address.

Officers observed the man walking on Murray Street. When the man was advised that he was under arrest, he fled on foot. Following a short foot pursuit, officers located the man hiding in a bush and he was taken into custody.

Upon being searched incident to arrest, the man was found to be in possession of a clear plastic baggie containing suspected crystal methamphetamine with an approximate street value of $3000.

The 44-year-old Wallaceburg man has been charged with failing to comply, escape lawful custody and possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
