Another name has been added to the mix in North Kent.

Dresden resident Gary Clarkson has filed his papers and will be running in Ward 4.

Clarkson said he wants to go out and hear what people’s issues and concerns are across the Ward.

“I believe most people should go around and talk to the people in their Wards and try to get the idea of what they need,” he said. “I only know of issues in Dresden right now and Ward 4 is a very, very big Ward. You would have to get out and find out what other people need as well or what other towns might need.”

Clarkson added: “In this case, I believe Dresden needs a dump site to get rid of the overflow. You have to drive all the way to Wallaceburg and you have to pay and you’ve got to drive back. With the price of gas right now it is hard on a lot of people. This is a retirement community.”

Clarkson is retired after working in a machine shop in Brantford for 35 years. He was a union president for about 12 years.

He currently lives in Dresden with his wife and two rescue dogs.

Clarkson joins incumbents Leon Leclair and Joe Faas as candidates, along with newcomer Marc Reid.

Election day is Oct. 27.
