Robbery and aggravated assault charges laid in Chatham

The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man in connection with an incident over the weekend in Chatham.

On August 30, the man attended a residence on Edgar Street. Once inside, the man removed cash from the victim’s wallet. The victim, known to the man, attempted to stop him. Upon doing so, the man punched him in the head several times and bit him prior to fleeing the apartment.

The 53-year-old victim attended the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance for medical attention. He was treated and released.

Last night around 6:15 p.m. police located the man on King Street East and he was arrested.

The 25-year-old Chatham man has been charged with robbery and aggravated assault. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
