The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man wanted on outstanding warrants.

On August 30, 2014 around 7:30 p.m. an officer on general patrol observed a man and woman arguing in a parking lot on Queen Street in Chatham. As the officer activated his emergency lights and approached to investigate, the woman jumped in the van with the man and he put the vehicle in reverse over a curb to evade the cruiser. The man fled on Queen Street at a high rate of speed and was observed driving through a red light.

The officer recognized the man and through investigation, further learned that he was bound by several release conditions, including a curfew and Canada wide driving prohibition. A warrant for his arrest was subsequently issued for the offences of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, flight from police, driving while suspended, failing to comply and two counts of driving while disqualified.

Yesterday afternoon, the 34-year-old Moraviantown man was located in Hamilton and arrested. He was transported back to Chatham-Kent and has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
