The Dresden Kings got off to a great start in the Great Lakes Junior ‘C’ League on Friday night in Dresden.
The Kings won a close one over the Alvinston Flyers, 3-2.
Alvinston got on the board first and early, scoring just 1:38 into the game.
But Dresden evened things up with a goal from Macks Holmes at the 8:04 mark, with an assist from Dillon Liberty.
Justin Delgado put the Kings up 2-1 at the 11:04 mark with a goal, assisted by Taylor Sisson.
The Flyers tied things up early in the second period, but Taylor Sisson scored a short-handed goal at the 11:42 mark, which proved to be enough.
Alvinston had a great opportunity to score in the third, as Kirklin Dorman was awarded a penalty shot.
However, he could not get the puck past Kings goalie Scott Tricker.
Tricker finished with 27 saves in the victory.
The Kings will be back in action on Sunday, when they head to Amherstburg.
