Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 26-year-old Chatham man is facing multiple charges after police say he was caught leaving a business that had not yet opened for the day.
Chatham-Kent police say they were contacted around 6:12 a.m. on July 12 after a witness reported seeing a male exit the business. Officers arrived to find an exterior door open with damage to the latch, and located a man matching the witness’s description nearby.
Police say the man pulled away and pushed officers as they attempted to arrest him. A search conducted incident to the arrest turned up an open collapsible knife, and investigators determined the man was subject to conditions prohibiting him from possessing weapons.
He has been charged with break and enter a place other than a dwelling-house with intent to commit an indictable offence, resisting a peace officer, and failing to comply with a probation order. He was held for bail.
