Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is currently investigating a fatal collision involving a car and a transport truck that occurred at approximately 12:33 a.m. on September 18, 2014.
Police have learned that a car travelling eastbound on Highway 401 ran into the back of a transport truck parked on the shoulder just east of Elgin Road. The driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene. The truck driver was not injured in the collision.
The OPP Technical Traffic Investigation Team has been activated to assist with the investigation.
The eastbound Highway 401 on ramp from Elgin Road and two eastbound lanes have been closed at Elgin Road and are expected to be closed until approximately 6:00 a.m. Motorists are asked to choose alternate routes as police complete their investigation.
Identity of the deceased is being withheld pending next of kin notification.
The investigation is continuing.
