Major improvements could be coming to A.A. Wright Public School in Wallaceburg.
The Lambton-Kent District School Board agreed to submit a request to the Ministry of Education at their meeting last night, for $2 million in capital improvements.
If approved by the Ministry, through the Ministry School Consolidation Capital Program, two new permanent classrooms would be added, along with ancillary space for resource, meeting purposes and to the existing gymnasium.
“We’ll keep our fingers crossed as it could be another significant gain for schools in Wallaceburg,” said Carmen McGregor, a trustee with the LKDSB.
Wallaceburg recently received $2.25 million for capital improvements at Wallaceburg District Secondary School.
Jim Costello, director of education, said the money will go towards a new fitness centre, a new track and a new learning environment and expanded library.
“Sometimes the trade off when you close a school is you get an improved learning environment for your students,” Costello told us last month.
