From The Pastor’s Pen – By Brian Horrobin
Thieves make their move when they think no one is watching.
Several years ago, while my youngest son was working his shift at McDonald’s, his bicycle went missing.
A quick check of the surveillance video showed two guys snooping around the garbage enclosure and taking off with his bike while he was busy working inside.
A call to the police was made and after seeing the footage, the constable was able to easily identify the culprits, who were known to the officer, and take subsequent action.
The bicycle was returned to our home about an hour later.
Although it happened in broad daylight, the thieves thought they were acting undetected because the area was closed off to pedestrian traffic.
However, they didn’t see the hidden camera, and it resulted in them being found out.
Although not in this case, theft often goes unnoticed by the victim.
However, nothing escapes the sight of our heavenly Father.
Proverbs 15:3 says, “The eyes of the LORD are everywhere, keeping watch on the wicked and the good.”
We can do things behind closed doors, or in the dark, but God sees it all.
I don’t know about you, but I have enough of a conscience that knowing that information makes me think twice about doing something that is questionable.
Before a careless word is said, or an unkind action made, I am going to think twice knowing that the Lord is watching from above.
Of course, the opposite is also true.
Doing the right thing, even when nobody is watching, also gets noticed by the Heavenly Father.
In Matthew 6:4 Jesus said, “Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”
So, remember that God is watching and do what’s right!
