I was getting a few things at the grocery store recently and noticed a young couple teasing and flirting with each other on their way to the till.
I overheard the girl tell her boyfriend, “Stop it, you’re going to make me drop it!” Shortly after her non-urgent request I heard the sound of a smashed jar, followed by giggles.
While checking out there was an announcement that clean up was required on aisle 6, and as I looked up I saw the aforementioned couple in my lane, grinning like Cheshire cats and holding a new jar of name brand salsa.
The guy mumbled something about needing to stock some shelves in order to pay for the damage, leading me to believe he would do the right thing and pay for both jars.
Nope!
He acted as if that was the store’s problem and just laughed all the way out of the store.
Folks, when you mess up, it is important to do the right thing.
The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 13:7 that “you should do what is honourable.”
The honourable thing for this couple to do would have been to pay for the jar they broke.
Let’s learn from their mistake and endeavour to always do the right thing.
