The Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit is inviting all workplaces to the launch of their revised Workplace Wellness resources and a Workplace Wellness Recognition Program.
The launch is on Wednesday October 8, 2014 at Select Finishing, 6950 Base Line, Wallaceburgfrom 1:30pm –2:30pm.
In Chatham-Kent, approximately 46,000 people are employed in the workforce.
We spend approximately 1/3 of our lives at work or thinking about work.
Research has shown that workplace wellness programs can reduce health care costs by about 25%.
Imagine the health impact workplaces can have in our own community. Other benefits include: improved productivity, decreased absenteeism, better employee relations, fewer injuries, reduced WSIB claims and health benefits cost, improved corporate culture and image, and improved retention and recruitment.
Employers and employees working together to create a workplace wellness program is key to a successful and sustainable program.
The recognition program was made possible through a partnership with the CK Community Leaders’ Cabinet and with support from the Healthy Communities Partnership, working together to make health the easy choice. Attendees will include Chatham-Kent workplaces, Economic Development, guest speakers, and the Workforce Planning Board.
At the launch, Public Health, the Mayor, Economic Development, Workforce Planning Board, and several employers will share the importance of workplace wellness. This will also be your opportunity get your Workplace Wellness package, collect more resources, speak to the experts, join the community of practice for workplace wellness, and network with other workplaces.
