HOT TOPIC

Thieves have struck the community of Mitchell’s Bay.

A beautiful welcome sign, officially unveiled this past summer, was targeted by thieves sometime late Sunday or early Monday morning.

Read the full story here, featuring Mitchell’s Bay resident Dave Smith explaining how three of the four carved wooden ducks were stolen.

People were not too impressed on social media:

Susan said on Facebook: “How violating!! To the loser who took these I hope your girlfriend is happy with the sad birthday gift you possibly just handed her for her garden!! These were a treasure that Mitchell’s bay had installed to beautify a community- not for just themselves but for everyone that visits! How dare you think you can just take something that is not yours! I guess you don’t know what it means to work hard and feel good about it- ughh”

Lisa said on Facebook: ” I designed that sign. That really ticks me off!!! Some people. I hope they catch them.”

Brian said on Facebook: “Scumbags.”

Genny said on Facebook: “Isn’t that just ignorant of someone to do.”

Also, thanks to the Chatham-Kent Police Service for sharing our story on their Facebook Page:
