
The Municipality of Chatham-Kent is pleased to announce that Dr. April Rietdyk has been selected to fill the position of General Manager, Health and Family Services/CEO, Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit, effective January 1, 2015.
Dr. Rietdyk will fill the position being vacated by Lucy Brown’s pending retirement.
The General Manager position is responsible for a large, diverse department that provides a full range of human services to Chatham-Kent residents, including Children’s Services, Employment and Social Services, Housing Services, Public Health, and Seniors Services.
Rietdyk comes to the position with 30 years of experience focused on improving the health and quality of life for residents. Most recently, she has served as the Director, Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit, since 2008.
“April’s administrative leadership and enthusiasm have empowered her team in the Public Health Unit to make it one of the strongest health units in Ontario,” said the municipality’s Chief Administrative Officer, Don Shropshire. “I know she will bring that same energy and community focus to working with employees, community partners and clients in her new position as General Manager of Health and Family Services.”
