Baldoon Golf Club has confirmed when the final day of golfing will take place at the golf course.

“We will be pulling the pins as of next Wednesday (Oct. 15) for the final time,” said Melissa Gaylard, general manager at Baldoon. “The course will not be reopened next season.”

Gaylard added that the owner of the Links of Kent is offering members from Baldoon a 10 per cent discount on memberships for next season.

Gaylard added that the “catering services and banquet hall will continue on” as she will be taking over the ownership of the course.

The Sydenham Current broke the story back in August that the golf course had been sold.

Gaylard is looking to purchase the clubhouse and continue operating as a restaurant, catering and banquet facility.

The other proposed owner, local farmer Scott Kilbride, is seeking to turn the majority of the property into agricultural land.

The purchase is pending the approval of an official plan amendment, zoning by-law amendment and consent applications.

Currently, the St. Clair Region Conservation Authority is recommending that an environmental impact study be conducted on the property, which is delaying the deal.
