Few details are known at the moment, after a house fire on Langstaff Line just outside of Wallaceburg near Pond Road.
Bob Davidson, assistant fire chief for the Chatham-Kent Fire Department, told the Sydenham Current at the scene that the investigation is on-going.
“The call came in at 2:23 a.m,” Davidson said. “The call was called in by a neighbour. The fire station out of Tupperville responded. Upon arrival their observation was a significant working fire, with significant extension throughout the house. The incident commander decided to take a defensive approach, which means we don’t enter the building because it is unsafe to do so. We’ve been dealing with the fire since that time.”
Davidson said there no word on injuries.
“We don’t know any details yet,” he said.
The Ontario Fire Marshal has been called in, Davidson added.
Chatham-Kent Police officials said there is little information known at this time.
We’ll provide more information when it becomes available.
