A local group is hoping to fill a van with donations for local people in need.
The Riverview Towers tenant social committee will be collecting donations for the Salvation Army food bank on Saturday November 8.
If anyone in the community would like to donate a non-perishable food item for the “Jam the van” event, it can be dropped off in the parking lot of Riverview Towers at 750 Wallace Street in Wallaceburg between 11-2.
The goal of the group is to fill a Panoramic Properties work van and deliver it to the food bank.
Hotdogs and refreshments will be served during the event.

Although it is awesome how sooo many people are ready to help the needy, there is one set back to this stuff I feel the need to express…..why is it that people who have worked and are on EI or only working part time and barely making ends meet have a hard time getting help for this food BUT…our local DRUG DEALERS and USERS use the salvation army food bank LIKE A GROCERY STORE!…they always have food and you can see them pedalling away from the food bank after they have done their grocery shopping for the day but dont put 2 cents worth into taxes or anything for that matter. They get their welfare or disability… but my friend with a part time job and no help from anyone else cant get accepted for a food basket, when is the government going to stop CATERING to all these druggies and dealers to get more welfare money and start having some compassion for the people who ACTUALLY WORK but still need help once in a while????????
******That is exactly why myself and many others DO NOT donate to the food bank. I would rather make up my own baskets and drop them off at peoples doors that i know need them FOR REAL!
