The saying goes: what happens in Las Vegas, stays in Vegas.

However, three Wallaceburg residents and one Dresden resident are hoping to bring back a great result after today’s World’s Toughest Mudder event.

Dresden’s Dave McCaughrin and Wallaceburg’s Joe Perry, and brothers Matt and Alex Richie are competing today (Nov. 15) in the grueling 24-hour Tough Mudder challenge just outside of Las Vegas, Nevada.

“The day has finally arrived,” Perry wrote on Facebook. “I won’t lie: this course scares me. It will be a huge test. I truly appreciate all the support I’ve received from everyone. I hope I make it back home in approximately one piece. My fellow crazed Mudders and I are about to have an experience we will never forget. No turning back now. It’s go time!”

According to the Tough Mudder website, the World’s Toughest Mudder event is deigned to push the participants to the limit.

“World’s Toughest Mudder is the culminating event of the Tough Mudder® global calendar, and takes the concept of being a Tough Mudder to a whole new level,” their site states. “Designed to push Muddersâ„  to their physical and mental limits, this extreme competition puts the world’s most hardcore Mudders through a grueling 24-hour obstacle challenge with double the obstacles per mile of any other Tough Mudder event.”

Watch for a follow-up story after the competition.
