A downtown Wallaceburg store is welcoming the public into their 508 James Street location this week to celebrate a milestone.
April Tuininga, manager at Re:Find Charity Thrift Shoppe, said their crew is proud to be celebrating one year in business.
“It’s going really, really well,” she said. “This whole week we are celebrating our anniversary. Being thankful to our customers, people who donate stuff and our 80 plus volunteers a month that work here.”
Tuininga said apple cider and treats were available at the shop all week to celebrate the anniversary as well.
Jodi Miller, one of the coordinators and founders at Re:Find, said the support has been phenomenal.
“The community comes together and they help us out,” she said. “More people learn about us everyday. We have a big community supporting us, giving us donations and offering their time. We’re super thankful for that.”
The proceeds from Re-Find go towards supporting Wallaceburg Christian School, along with multiple charities and groups in the community.
“We’re owned and operated by Wallaceburg Christian School,” Tuininga said. “Most of the money we raise goes back to the school and helps the students there. It is not to reduce tuition, but rather to provide for some of the other things that maybe they can’t have. We need new buses in a couple of years, technology and sports equipment, arts programs.”
Tuininga added: “We do take a portion of our income every month and we donate it to a local not-for-profit.”
Re:Find has donated funds to Knox Presbyterian soup cellar, U-Turn Ministries, Habitat For Humanity, Salvation Army Wallaceburg, the United Way Backpacks for Kids in Wallaceburg and the Dresden Food Bank.
“We give product also to the Women’s Centre in Walpole Island, the Baby Cupboard and also Know Presbyterian youth drop-in centre,” Miller added.
