An accidental blaze has caused significant damage at a Chatham strip mall.
Chatham-Kent firefighters responded to a blaze at 615 Grand Ave West in Chatham, specifically at the Pennington’s retail clothing store in the Thames Lea Plaza.Â
Scott Sproule, fire inspector, said an over heated monitor caused several combustibles near the monitor to burn.
Damage is pegged at $250,000, while $100,000 in property was saved.
“There is a lot of smoke damage to the clothing throughout the store,” Sproule said in a press release.
The call came in at 9:54 p.m.
