At about 12:30 pm yesterday afternoon, police received a call from a concerned citizen regarding a suspicious person in the Patteson Ave, Chatham area who was dressed in full camo, carrying a backpack and armed with a holstered handgun.
Several Officers immediately converged on the area and located a 26-year-old Chatham man matching the description.
During the investigation, police learned that this man was on his way to participate in “war games” with friends.
The weapon that was reported to be a firearm was a realistic replica (airsoft) gun.
The Chatham-Kent Police would like to remind citizens to use common sense as these types of incidents, although within the law may cause concern and even panic to the public and will result in a heightened Police response.
