The Wallaceburg PeeWee’s snagged two weekend wins.

Friday Night

The Subway PeeWee team edged a little closer to the top of the standings Friday night with a win over Petrolia. Although Petrolia is near the bottom of the standings they have shown promise lately taking points from some of the top teams. Wallaceburg jumped out in front scoring a goal in the 1st period and adding two more in the 2nd before Petrolia added one themselves. Petrolia came on strong but Wallaceburg didn’t back off and kept things going in the 3rd adding two more goals. Petrolia managed to add a late one but it was too late, Wallaceburg held on for the 5-2 win. Wallaceburg looks to Saturday for two more points in an important game against Dresden Maroon.

Saturday

The Subway PeeWee team kept their winning ways going on Saturday afternoon while visiting a tough opponent in the Dresden Maroon team. The game summed up what this whole season has been like so far; competitive, aggressive and exciting. Both teams battled evenly back and forth in the first two periods. Eventually Wallaceburg managed to get on the board in the 3rd period and scored another giving them a little cushion. In the end a late goal sealed the deal and Wallaceburg celebrated a 3-0 win and their goalies well deserved first shutout of the year! Both Wallaceburg teams now share 1st place with the Subway team having 2 games in hand. Well done!
