The Chatham-Kent Police Service are reminding everyone to be safe this New Year’s Eve.
“Save yourself the embarrassment of being published in our Daily Media Release,” police officials said. “New Year’s Eve is quickly approaching. Plan ahead: designate a sober driver, arrange a safe way home, or sleep over. Remember impaired driving can be by alcohol or drugs. Play safe.”
Another option for local residents is – Home James.
It will also be in operation for New Year’s Eve from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m.
People need to call 519-351-3353 to arrange a ride.
The program has run each Friday and Saturday night starting on November 21st from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m.
The Home James program is driven by community partners and dedicated volunteers to make the roads safer for Chatham-Kent residents.
Home James is a not-for-profit organization that:
– Encourages safe driver practices and safe roads.
– Provides a safe alternative to getting home after the consumption of alcohol.
– Donates all donations received during night of operation in the holiday season to local youth organizations.
In its 2 years of operation Home James has raised over $20,000 for local youth organizations.
