The investigation is on-going after a blaze at the Mud Creek Sport Club near Mitchell’s Bay.

Dover and Tupperville firefighters were called to a fire at the dog kennel and workshop portion of the property at 9:36 p.m. on New Year’s Day.

Assistant Fire Chief Ric Scharf said no one or animals were hurt.

“Only two dogs were on the property and staff was able to get them both out of the kennel area safely,” Scharf said.

The fire caused approximately $40,000 damage.

The Mud Creek Club has a rich history in Chatham-Kent.

The club began its existence as North America’s premiere hunting club back in 1807 when King George the Third deeded some 2,000 acres on the northeast side of Lake St. Clair to the Earl of Selkirk.
