Chatham Kent Health Alliance (CKHA) and the Chatham-Kent Family Health Team (CKFHT) are pleased to announce two new physicians to the community – Drs. Glen and Briana Providence.
Recently making the move to Chatham-Kent in December, Dr. Glen Providence joined CKHA as a Hospitalist and Dr. Briana Providence, the Chatham-Kent Family Health Team as a Family Physician.
Her practice is now open at the Dresden location and she is now accepting patients through Healthcare Connect (1-800-445-1822).
Originally from the Toronto area, the Providence’s have been practicing in the United States for a few years before making the decision to come back to southwestern Ontario.
“It is important for us to be close to our family,” stated Dr. Briana Providence. “We have friends who live in the Chatham-Kent area who practice medicine and we decided to explore the opportunities. After several site visits and much discussion, my husband and I decided it was a great fit for our medical practice and our young family.”
Both physicians did their medical school at Saba University Medical School in the Caribbean.
After graduation, they moved to Ohio to complete their residency training where Glen received his Internal Medicine residency and Briana completed Family Medicine.
They moved to Pennsylvania to begin their practices.
“We are very excited to have Dr. Briana Providence join us in Dresden,” stated Laura Johnson, Executive Director of the Chatham-Kent Family Health Team. “She is a great asset to the Family Health Team and to the community.”
“Having the Providence’s join Chatham-Kent is very exciting for us,” stated Dr. Ranjith Chandrasena, Interim Chief of Staff at CKHA. “Both are very skilled and excellent medical professionals to have at our hospital and within our community.”
