Jurors handed down a guilty verdict in a Sarnia courtroom today concerning a 2012 murder that took place on Walpole Island.
Naanan Mackenzie Williams, 22, was found guilty of the second-degree murder of his 50-year-old great uncle Clifford Riley.
Williams is guilty of stomping Riley on the chest to death.
Riley’s body was found on the side of River Road, north of Firehall Road, on Walpole Island on the morning of June 22, 2012.
Reports indicate a sentencing hearing will take place April 23.
Williams will remain in custody while he awaits his sentence.
Second degree murder carries a sentence of life in prison, with no eligibility for parole for 10 years.
Williams’ trial lasted three weeks in Superior Court.
