Throwback Thursday : ‘Hall’ of Famer at Wallaceburg Arena

This weeks Throwback Thursday is a shot taken in 1950 of Arena manager Frank Mabey applying a patch to goaltender Glenn Hall of the Windsor Spitfires Junior “A” team.  Hall was in Wallaceburg participating in a hockey clinic.

Hall would go on to have an incredible career in the NHL.

He ended his career with 407 wins, 84 shutouts, a career GAA of 2.49, and was voted to eleven All-Star Games.

Hall is widely regarded as one of the first NHL goalies to master the butterfly style of goaltending.

He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1975.

Thank you to Mark Child’s and The Black Goose Grill for lending us this great shot before they frame it and hang it up. Mark tells us it is from Al Mann’s collection.
