In the past 24 hours, officers have responded to 11 calls for abandoned vehicles and 11 motor vehicle collisions across the Municipality.

Luckily, no one was seriously injured.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service would like to remind motorists to allow extra time to reach their destination today. Roads are snow covered and visibility is reduced in some areas.

Please ensure you drive according to the road and weather conditions.

The Municipality of Chatham-Kent Public Works Department has declared a snow emergency.

The current weather forecast indicates a heavy snowfall accumulation of 25 to 30 cm.

Parking of vehicles on municipal streets and roads is prohibited now through until Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at 4:00 p.m.

Emergency vehicles, citizens and local businesses all depend on streets and roads to be clear for passage. This action is required to enable snow ploughs to clear away the snow as safely and efficiently as possible.

We are asking for the support of motorists to make every effort to move their vehicles off all Municipal streets and roads.
