People in Wallaceburg, Dresden and area won’t have to travel as far to apply for a new passport.

Patricia Davidson, MP for Sarnia — Lambton, announced on Wednesday the opening of passport receiving services within the Service Canada Centre in Sarnia, located at 529 Exmouth Street.

“Our Government is committed to service excellence, giving Canadians access to services and information close to where they work and live,” Davidson stated.

“By offering passport services in the Services Canada Centre in Sarnia, Ontario, we are making it easier for people to obtain assistance with their passport application.”

Generally people from Wallaceburg, Dresden and the immediate area would travel to either Windsor or London to apply for or renew their passport.

Passport receiving agents will be working at the Sarnia site, assisting citizens with their standard passport application by reviewing it on site for completeness, verifying supporting documents, accepting payment and forwarding it on for processing.

Service Canada is expanding passport receiving services in Kingston and Belleville, along with Sarnia.

The Sarnia office is set to open March 2.
