Poll: Should C-K councillors also be news reporters?

Our pals over at the Wallaceburg Courier Press pointed out something in the “What we see, hear and think” portion of their Feb. 12 edition of their newspaper.

They said they were “surprised” to hear Chatham-Kent Counc. Trevor Thompson as the weekend news person on Wallaceburg’s 99.1 CKXS radio station for a couple of weekends in January.

The Courier Press said the bulk of local radio news reports is the latest news from municipal council.

They added, having a Chatham-Kent councillor be a news reporter sets a “dangerous precedent.

“No matter how they spin it, any politician will have some political bias and not be objective,” the newspaper wrote.

They also said if the Wallaceburg station wants to have Chatham-Kent council members on their staff, they would be fine with Mayor Randy Hope being a late night DJ, going by the name Dr. Randy Fever.

What do you think?

Should C-K councillors also be new reporters?
