Police are being tight-lipped about an investigation into two deaths earlier this week on Walpole Island.

Lambton OPP officials confirmed with the Sydenham Current that no more information was being released at this time.

The bodies of two adult males were found along Public Bush Road on the First Nation reserve on Sunday, February 22.

“Although the investigation into these two deaths is in the early stages, there is nothing at this time to suggest that they appear suspicious in nature,” police officials said in a press release on Monday.

Walpole Island Police Service, with assistance from the Lambton County OPP were awaiting the results from the post mortem exams.

The names of the two men were not being released until the completion of the post mortem examinations and forensic testing.

Anyone with information related to this investigation is asked to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or their nearest police authority.

Should you wish to remain anonymous, you may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), where you may be eligible to receive a cash reward.

The deaths on the reserve led to the cancellation of the Walpole Island council meetings this week as well.
