With the temperatures warming up, the Chatham-Kent police are urging people to stay off the ice.
Just before 3:00 p.m. yesterday afternoon, emergency crews responded to the river bank along Grand Avenue West in Chatham in response to a man who had fallen through the ice.
The man was quickly rescued by members of the fire department and assessed on shore by local paramedics.
He did not require medical attention.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service would like to remind everyone that spring-like weather this past week has caused snow and ice to start melting.
Please use caution and stay clear of potentially hazardous waterways.
