The search is complete after a man was spotted floating down on some ice chunks beneath the Blue Water Bridge in Sarnia.
A video shot by the alleged man has also surfaced.
The Lambton County OPP were notified on March 21, 2015 at approximately 9:00 p.m., of a sighting of what was reported to be a person observed on an ice flow in the St. Clair River, under the Bluewater Bridge.
The OPP immediately commenced an extensive search of the area.
They were assisted by the Sarnia Police Department, the Point Edward Fire Department, the Sarnia Fire Department, the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre, the Canadian Coast Guard, the United States Coast Guard, and the Port Huron Police Department.
Despite the coordinated police, fire, and coast guard efforts, and deployed resources, the search did not locate the adult male, nor confirm additional evidence of the sighting.
Police asked for the public’s assistance with the investigation.
The involved person has contacted the OPP as a result of the initial media release pertaining to this matter.
They are in good health, and uninjured.
Lambton OPP would like to thank the public and the media for their interest and assistance with this incident.
It is concluded, and has been cleared without charges.
