An online fundraiser has been launched for a Wallaceburg woman, who is battling a rare, incurable disease.
A campaign was started on the crowd funding site GoFundMe.com for Linda Saya, who has been diagnosed with Creutzfeldt-Jabob’s disease.
“She was a truly respected person in the community of Wallaceburg… a hard-working and dedicated single mother who always provided for her children and grandchildren before she would provide for herself,” her family wrote on the site.
Linda is the mother of John, Andrew, and Kylie Saya.
Linda’s family said over the past year, she began struggling to drive to work, accomplish everyday tasks that seemed easy before, and suffered from confusion.
Still, Linda pressed on to lead a normal life before her family stepped in to get her some rest.
After recieving medical attention, it was discovered she was suffering from a very rare disease called Creutzfeldt-Jabob’s disease.
The disease is incurable and fatal, with chances of infection less than one in a million.
“Although we know Linda is a one in a million person, this is not the lottery she deserved,” he family wrote. “Since her diagnosis, Linda has not returned home and is waiting for long-term patient care.”
The campaign has been launched to help offset some of the expenses for Linda’s care.
