Shortly after 8:30 a.m. this morning, emergency crews responded to a two vehicle collision on Middle Line near Allison Line.
A van was travelling on Middle Line towards Blenheim when the driver lost control, crossed the centre line and was struck by an on-coming vehicle.
A 5-year-old boy was ejected through a window and sustained serious injuries.
The boy was transported via ambulance to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance where he was stabilized by medical personnel.
He has since been transferred to the London Health Sciences Centre for further medical treatment.
The driver of the van, a 40-year-old Merlin woman is facing charges of failing to ensure a child is properly secured and driving with improper tires.
