Child struck by car in Chatham

On Saturday the 11th day of April 2015 at approximately 1:45 p.m., the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a serious motor vehicle collision that occurred on McNaughton Ave East in Chatham, within Municipality of Chatham-Kent.

This incident was a car vs pedestrian collision, with possible head injuries being reported.

The vehicle was reversing from a driveway and struck a child running across, causing the child to go beneath the rear end of the vehicle.

The victim was rushed by ambulance to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance – Public General Hospital.

After being treated initially, it was determined that the victim in this matter was to be transported to Victoria Hospital – Children’s Treatment Centre in London, Ontario.

After further treatment, the 5-year-old boy is now stable, and his condition has been upgraded.

He will be moving out of the intensive care unit, in the near future.

No names will be released in this matter.
