DNR Outdoor Power Equipment in Dresden are selling the number one and number two brand of handheld equipment in Canada – Stihl and Echo.
Rob Northcott, one of the owners of DNR, said Stihl is a company based in Germany that carries a full line of products, from chainsaws, string trimmers, pressure washers, blowers, cut-off saws, vacuums, shop-vacs, hedge clippers and rototillers.
“The majority of those products are in stock at our store at all times,” he said.
Northcott said DNR also carries the number two brand in Canada – Echo and its subsidiary Echo Bear Cat.
“Echo also carries a full line of string trimmers, chain saws, blowers, handheld and backpack, engine drills. In the Bear Cat line we have pressure washers, generators, water pumps, chipper shredders, and just plain chippers.”
Northcott said Stihl is currently the industry leader, but Echo is not far behind.
“Stihl has probably done the best job at marketing and they carry a full two-year warranty. They have had the tools in the industry for such a long time that their reputation and their branding has exceeded all other companies.”
Northcott said Echo has a five-year warranty for a consumers use.
“Echo is really going after the market hard, very strong, excellent products. I love the Echo string trimmers, great products. They are a very strong second place right now, but they are going to be a brand to be reckoned with in the near future. There are a lot of people in our area that already own an Echo and know the Echo brand.”
Northcott added: “I carry a wide-selection of all the products but I can’t carry everything. So if it’s something I don’t have in stock, then I can have it here in a maximum of two business days.
