Western Counties U15 split with Windsor

Western Counties U15 baseball team split a double header with the Windsor Stars Minor Bantams Saturday in Windsor.

In game 1 it was tied 4-4 going into the 7th inning but it was the Stars who prevailed with the 5-4 win. Jake Taylor was the starting pitcher for the Wolverines going 4 innings giving up 2 hits, walking 4 but striking out 5. Drew Pepper pitched the 5th and 6th innings allowing 1 hit, walking 2 and striking out 2 while Jacob Breault was called on for the 7th inning giving up 1 hit, walking 2 and striking out 1 and ended up with the loss.

Breault lead the Wolverine offence going 2 of 3 with a single and triple, Greg Hay had a double while singles went to Xavier Jamieson and Grant Spence.

Game 2 was a different Wolverine team as they came out swinging early and took a quick 2-0 lead after the top of 1st but the Stars answered back with 4 in the bottom of 1st inning. The Wolverines then went to work and put up 16 runs in the 2nd and another 8 runs in the 3rd to complete the 3 inning mercy with a 26-5 win.

Drew Pepper had 3 hits leading the Wolverine offence while Greg Hay had 2 hits while singles went to Kyle Blunt, Jake Taylor, Evan Rogers, Brett Allardyce, Connor Goldsmith, Jacob Breault and Grant Spence.

Next Action for the 4-3 Western Counties U 15 team will be in the Mississauga South Tournament starting Friday night May 29th against Whitby.
