Poll: Is speeding an issue on the Sydenham River?

Nature 016 (1)

We posted a photo on our Facebook page last week of an air boat travelling down the Sydenham River in Wallaceburg.

The photo gathered quite a bit of chatter on the social network, and it led to us using the topic in the week’s poll question… along with another photo.

Please feel free to vote below and comment as well to provide more insight.

The current speed limit on the Sydenham River in Wallaceburg is 8 km/h.

  1. Sometimes the wake the boat leaves is more a problem then the speed! Boaters need to look behind them too to see what damage they are causing.

  2. I find that every year you can tell the new boaters who run 1/4 to 1/2 throttle throwing a large wake not even realizing the damage they cause to the boats tied up along the shoreline. Many times you signal them to slow down only to get a dumb look or the bird. The small aluminum boats throw very little wake wide open, jet skis the same but when going slow large wake is produced. The majority of boaters are responsible but the cowboys and the so called elite people of Wallaceburg with their old boats well anyone living along the river knows who I am talking about need to show respect for the smaller people in town.
