Sonya Lynn Johnson of Walpole Island First Nation

Sonya-Johnson-1433515610Sonya Lynn Johnson, a resident of Walpole Island First Nation, died peacefully with her family at her side at St. Joseph’s Hospice in Sarnia on Thursday, June 4, 2015 at the age of 51.

Sonya is the daughter of the late Joseph & Verna Elaine Johnson. Beloved mother of Jenine Ellen Altiman (Nelson Reboyras) and Lyle “Wylee” Altiman (Malorie Jacobs). Loved grandmother of Anita Altiman Reboyras, Ciara Altiman Reboyras, Kassidy Jacobs, Wylee Jacobs, N’gwiss Patterson and Aliyah Nahdee. Dear sister of Aletta White (Arland), Michelle Day (Stafford), William Joseph Johnson, Judy Johnson Councilman and the late Daniel Johnson and Clark Peters Sr. “Beezer”. Sadly missed by her nieces & nephews.

Sonya was well respected and a great mother to her entire family and friends. She was the chef for Big Shooters Hunting Club and was known as a skilled designer and seamstress.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the Walpole Island United Church on Sunday. The funeral will be celebrated at the church on Monday, June 8 at 2 PM.
